Being A Busy Bee

Thursday 28 August 2014

Hello Lovelies!

This week has been one hectic one for me, from going to Reading Festival, to job interviews, to my current job and to fundraising for me to go to New York to compete in a law competition, I feel like I've had no time to breath. I haven't really done a life post in a while so I thought I'd do one about how I (kind of) cope with being busy and how I keep myself busy even though I'm now technically on a gap year and not currently in any form of education.

So how I cope.. well it would be very easy for me to say I don't really. I do get very stressed coupled with migraines and I do worry sometimes if I am doing to much work stuff and ignoring my friends who will be off to uni in a month! However one thing I would say I'm good at is time management and managing to do everything I want to by slotting things into a schedule. I always use the timetable app on my iphone as it's soo good to just slot in and colour co-ordinate your time. It's designed for school students but I find it still works fine for me even though I'm not in school any more.

Another thing I do is make notes...A Lot of notes. So for me it's important to always have a note book on me and a pen or even just my phone to make notes on. This is more to do with little things I want to get done apposed to fitting things into a schedule because these are things that I will do at some point like cleaning my room, basically things I can do when I have time but are not necessarily a main priority like work is.

Another thing I try to do is not panic. If I have a clash in something or feel like everything is just getting to much, I have to take a minute to really think logically and practically in terms of what I can actually take on and which I literally can't. This could be from covering someone's shift or going to two interviews in one day (remember you can always re-schedule), but as I say prioritise what you can and should do such as your actually work shifts or job you really want an try to re-arrange clashes. it all comes back really to as I said earlier slotting everything in and time management.

Finally how I actually keep myself busy. Right now I currently have two jobs and am looking into getting another one..this may not be my wisest choice but we'll see how it goes. So the first is by working, whether it be self employed, employed by a company or working from home like blogging, I think it's important to have an aspect of work in your daily life to make you appreciate your relaxing time and keep your brain alive. I also have my law competition so it's important to keep up hobbies particularly if you set goals, they don't have to be huge goals like getting to New York but even just little goals can be so satisfying and keep you busy without you even realising it! and thirdly friends and family it's so important that though you may be busy in your work life that you make time to be busy in your social life (whether is be a Starbucks chat or a bike ride) and keep close with the people who matter and can also tell you if you're over doing things ;).

I hope you've enjoyed reading! I am in no way an advice guru or a lifestyle blogger but I thought I'd just speak about what's going on in my life and my head right now. So what do you to to keep busy? what to you do to relax? and do you think there's such thing as overdoing it or just poor organisational skills? Thanks for reading.

They're Real Set for £19.50!

Wednesday 20 August 2014

Hello Lovelies!
As if we haven't heard enough about benefit's they're real mascara and new push up liner, I thought I'd write my own thoughts on them. I recently bought This little set that contains a full size there real, plus a mini push up liner and a sample of the line remover, which all in all is not at all bad for it's £19.50 price tag. I think you can get it from most if not all benefit stands.

I have tried the mascara previously and if I'm honest deserves a full review of it's own because quite frankly it's amazing and completely lives up to its reputation! If you are weary of the price tag (like I was) or are worried it won't live up to the hype, fear not as I can categorically say it's pretty much the best mascara I've ever used. I really didn't want it to be because of it's somewhat extortionate price tag,but I have to say no other mascara lengthens, separates and darkens my lashes like this does. In terms of volume, it's not the best in the world but it gives enough as I feel anymore volume may make my lashes spidery anyway. Despite being non waterproof it stays on really well but thankfully it's also not a pain in the bum to get off! Can't say much more about it other than love, love, love..this is holy grail potential.

Now on to the famous (and in some cases infamous :\) push up gel liner. I have always got on with gel liners pretty well so the idea to put it in a pen, I think is a fab idea. It may be a mini but it works the same as the full version so I feel like I can still give a little review. Firstly a word of warning, be careful when you first use it as you have to turn the bottom and at first it seems like it's coming out, so be patient (unlike me) and don't just twist it loads in frustration that it's not coming out. I speak from experience :(. Anyway that aside I was actually impressed with this product, I definitely had my reservations as I don't always like some overly hyped products but this I really do like. It's pretty easy to use, does (from my experience) actually hug the lash line and comes out with a really black line that stays on well and doesn't particularly smudge. I have to say although I like the nib and it's very precise it can make for a slightly thick line sometimes, which I don't really like for everyday. Overall though it definitely gets my seal of approval! and with this mini kit I recon is definitely worth a try.

The Liner, The Mascara, The Remover

Finally the remover I have yet to try as I keep forgetting, I'm just used to using the eye makeup remover I have. So I can't really comment but what I can say is I've heard good things about it and am exited to try it..once I remember.

I hope you've enjoyed reading about the They're Real set.I must admit I was skeptical about the hype surrounding both these products but so far so good! Have you tryed any of these products? what do you think of them? is this mascara your holy grail? Thank you for reading!

Soap and Glory- Glow All Out

Sunday 17 August 2014

Hello Lovelies!

Today's post will be a little review of a product that for a long while was my go to highlighter. Soap and Glory's Glow all out (£11.00) is a powder highlighter that looks kind of like a pink blush in the packaging, but on the skin is fairly translucent but gives a lovely iridescent glow with barely any pink pigmentation (which is a good thing as it's not actually a blush).

It comes in this cardboardy type packaging..what a great description becky. What I mean is it doesn't come in a plastic compact like a lot of highlighter products come in e.g. Bobbi Brown shimmer brick. The packaging closes through a magnet which I though was quite cool and it has a mirror on the inside, which is always handy. I love the gimmicky packaging and creative names Soap and Glory give to their products, it's like 1920's crossed with a modern day sense on humour.

As mentioned earlier, I used this product for a LONG while. This was mostly because I just thought it works so what's the point in looking for a new one as unlike my mascara whoreish tendencies I usually like to stick to one highlighter in my makeup bag. I would say this is probably a product for more paler skinned people as I currently have a tan and don't find it works quite as well. This is because I tend to go for a warmer golden highlighters when I'm tanned, apposed to this which is a white cooler toned highlight with a dash of pink. However, it still adds a nice glow to my cheeks and can be used to highlight the inner-corners of my eyes and brow bone. I would definitely say this gives more of a glow than shimmer effect but there are flecks of glitter and shimmer, which I don't particularly like but I can live with it because it reflects light well and looks good in pictures.

It may not be the cheapest of highlighters but I think there's not many great highlighters you can get for less than this price, I'm not sure why but when it comes to highlighters I find the more expensive brands do it a lot better than the cheaper brands, which is a shame as I'd love to find a really nice cheap alternative one day.

I hope you've enjoyed reading about one of my favourite drugstore/boots/superdrug highlighter products. I would definitely recommend giving it a try, especially if Boots or Superdrug have an offer on as it's not the cheapest of products. I'd love to know if you have tried this product and your thoughts? or what your favourite cheaper highlighters are? Thanks for Reading.

New Got2b Hair Products Review

Saturday 16 August 2014

Hello Lovelies.
What a week it's been! started with passing my driving theory test and ended with getting my A level results, plus all sorts of gap year preparations, which has lead to me neglecting my blog a lot more than I would have liked. It's my little escape that I feel like I need right now. Anyway on with what the post is actually about! recently I popped into boots after work and was just browsing the hair product section and I came across a beach waves salt spray and an dry oil mist spray from Got2b by Schwarzkopf. I've never tried this brand before but had heard good things, so I thought out on whim why not give them a go..and for £3.00 I thought I'm not really losing out if they don't work.

So onto the first product, the salt spray! I've been wanting one of these for a while because it's supposed to give that kind of beach cali girl look that you supposedly get after a day at the beach. I don't know if this is a look that a particularly want to go for on a daily basis especially in winter :\ However, from using the product I must say I really like what it does to my hair. It adds texture and it makes my hair looks great even if I've made no effort ( it's always nice to look 'effortless'). So I must say so far I am looving using this especially on those warmer days, it adds a nice naturally textured look to my hair and not a synthetic one. I think it can also be used on the beach to help control the beach frizz (that I sometimes get from the wind and heat) and give lovely beach waves instead. I can't say how this compares to other products or more expensive ones, but in my mind it's done it's job and that's all that matters. It's important to note that although this says a 'matte' salt spray it is in no way a dry shampoo type of product, I don't think it washes or repairs your hair at all just adds an effect.

The next is a dry oil mist that contains Argan oil! which I've spoken about in a previous post. Now I admit an oil spray sounds a bit gross and coming from a girl who still gets greasy hair, not my product at all! Having said that, the reason I bought it is to control my frizz and make my hair look all shiny and sleek and that. What I do with it mostly is to just use it on my ends and not my roots and I can say it truly does give the shininess I wanted. I love the look this stuff gives, it's that freshly washed conditioned, healthy look.. and who doesn't want that? Therefore, I would say if your hair is dry or damaged it would be a great product to keep your hair looking shiny and moisturized. A slight downside is that I don't think it actually repairs hair but it makes for a good disguise! The way you use this is by spraying it around 30 cm away from your hair and spreading evenly because otherwise it could end up looking a bit greasy in certain areas, which for me is not ideal at all. When done right it leaves your hair feeling shiny, smelling great and looking healthy so I am really happy with this and will repurchase if it runs out, which if my use of it so far is any reflection a repurchase will be due quite soon.

Overall I am super happy with these quick spray on styling products. It's no secret of mine that as much as I like to take pride in my hair I am incredibly lazy in terms of styling it. I have even procrastinated getting my hair cut professionally for 3 years :O. So at the moment these have been a real life saver and I'm so so happy I gave in and impulse bought them..and for only £3.00!! I'd love to know if you have tried any of Got2b's products? or if you would try either of these in the future? Thank you for reading.

Make-up Goodies From Abroad

Sunday 10 August 2014

Hello Lovelies!
It's been a while hasn't it? Since I only go back from my holiday in Bulgaria (with terrible internet might I add) yesterday I have been itching to write this post after not writing for nearly 2 weeks! which is actually quite a long time for me.
As I did go abroad I thought it would be a good opportunity to test out some makeup products that aren't so readily available in the UK at an even cheaper price as the Bulgarian exchange rate is pretty good. As I was wandering around in the 30 degree heat I came across the wet 'n wild makeup stand. I believe this is a make-up brand that is in most american drug stores and most likely all over the world. However, I don't think you can get it in shops in the UK. It's a pretty affordable brand that I would compare with makeup brands like collection or NYC, so when faced with these mini eye shadow pallets and larger than life mascara's I was spoilt for choice! in the end I went with a mascara, highlighter/blush compact and a lip gloss.

The first is a mega glo illuminating powder, this is the classic blush, bronzer, highlighter compact. Its has 4 shades the first is a light golden what I assume is a highlighter as it's too light to be a bronzer. the next two are blushes and the end one is a shimmer bronzer. I love one of the blushes but the only is far too light and I would just use it as a highlight. One thing I do like about products like this is the versatility of them. You could use the shades individually on the cheeks or eyes, or mix all the shades together to add more colour to the face. I must say I was impressed with the pigmentation of these immensely I didn't expect them to really show up on my skin as it cost around £3.00 when I converted the price to pounds. However, they showed up well on my skin and are quite flattering colours that I think will suit me more when I am slightly paler, which is most of the year. One thing I would say though is like many cheap eyeshadows and blushes the product is quite chalky, glittery instead of glowy and doesn't last overly long on the skin. Nevertheless I know I will enjoy using this and look forward to the different ways I can use it with different looks.

The first the the darker blush, then the lighter blush, then the highlight, then the bronzer.

The next was a lipgloss that I think cost around £1 so I really wasn't expecting big things. It has a pretty sticky texture, scent of watermelon and leaves a sheer glossy finish. I picked up a slightly browny colour because I find these suit me well. However, with the cool undertones in the finish I don't think it really does suit me... unfortunately :(. I don't know if it will look better once I loose my tan but overall I would say this is a lipgloss where you get what you pay for and if you do purchase this product it's not necessarily bad but it's what you would expect from a low budget lip gloss..but it's staying power isn't bad really (felt like I should throw in a positive). I think i'm definitely going to try it over lip sticks though because although it may not be my colour alone, I am determined that I will make this work for me! haha.

Swatch on my lips

Finally the last was a mascara for around £5.00, it's their XXL lash mascara! They had an XL version but when it comes to lashes my view is why go XL when you can go XXL for the same price, it was a no brainer for me. I bought this mostly as I was running out of my benefit they're real mini that I planned on using up there anyway but I must say although it's not quite as good it's slightly better than I expected. It has a twisty type brush which traditionally I hate because for some reason they really don't catch my lashes and I hate that because it just makes them heavy and gloopy (hmm what a lovely image). This mascara however adds a a lot of volume without glooping that is buildable, it doesn't add much in terms of curl and length which is disappointing, but if you want volume and a very black mascara for a low price this is the one to go for!

In a way I'm sort of happy I wasn't completely blown away by the products I picked out because I know it would be a bit of a pain trying to repurchase them. However, they all have their merits and are relatively nice product. I wish I had tried more but I didn't want to go too crazy if the products were terrible and I was slightly rushed for choice. I hope you've enjoyed reading this post even if these are so readily available where you live. But have you tried any of these products? what are your thoughts? is there any products you wish were available in your country? I'd love you to leave a comment. Thank you for reading.
